High Agency // Violent Execution

We need more people who HAVE in Louisville. We need more Otavio

For the past 3 months, I have had the privilege to work with Otavio Menezes in the Founders Room at Story. At the end of this month, Otavio will be heading to The Network School in Singapore. Please feel free to join us for a celebratory farewell lunch Tuesday Feb 25th Noon. 

@Otavio, we'd love to have you back… but understand the winds of change.

I met Otavio one late afternoon in December. Sure, there were the normal get-to-know-you transactions, but there was something else. Something refreshing. The conversation quickly shifted toward building. Sharing things we want to see exist in this world. Within 3 hours of meeting, Otavio ordered a sauna tent, picked a date, created a Luma, and we had Fire & Ice (and by we I mean mostly Otavio with some light marketing by KYCombinator). 

Otavio took it upon himself.

No permission. No questions. No excuses. 

No tomorrow. No later. No ehhh maybe someone else will do it.  

Otavio just executed. And he did it violently. 

We need more of that… That mentality. Some call it high agency. Others call it stallion work ethic. It was inspiring to see someone just do things. You will often hear Otavio say things like, “Action breeds information.” Do first. Ask questions (or permission) later. 

We need this in Louisville. Not just for entrepreneurship, but for GROWTH. Growth is not easy, and growth has winners and losers; but no growth… that leads to failure (see Why Nations Fail). 

Growth is a lagging indicator of action. We can have opinions. We can argue. But nothing matters besides ACTION. If we want to see Louisville punch above its weight class and become a destination that draws people in, we need to build a culture around action. We need people to bring the energy. Good things will follow. 

We need more High Agency // Violent Execution. We need more people who HAVE.

We’re less than 2 days away from our first annual 💻️ HackKentucky! We’re pacing at 100-150 150-200 200-250 people…much more than original 100 planned. 📣 All organic advertising. Thank you for helping spread the word!

We have an awesome set of mini events during the day; from 5:05pm 5 minute 🌶️ spicy ramen challenge to the 🪩 10:10pm 10 minute dance party. Plus speakers from every 😁 FAANG+. Lastly on Sunday we’ll be doing 🏆️ judging and 🍳 resume roasts!
