Interestingly the NYTimes article highlights Chattanooga. In Chattanooga, two startups were highlighted, both moved to Chattanooga; one from Miami (Truck Parking Club) and from San Diego (Shappi). Shappi is a portco of Brickyard Co (fund 1, #14), whom we modeled Deep Work Enclave in our write up two weeks ago about The Thoroughbred Framework and importing talent.
GRAVITY
Louisville needs gravity. When we talk in Louisville it’s like we’re in a zero gravity environment and we see everything…talent, jobs, opportunity…float away. We talk defensively, “how do we keep…[noun]….from…[negative verb…leaving]”.
The answer is not defense, it’s not offense. It’s gravity.
And we need multiple “gravity wells”.
